Occupational Health and Safety

The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) division of the Safety Branch focuses on promoting safe and healthy workplaces, safe work practices, and safety standards that protect people at work. This is achieved through the Internal Responsibility System (IRS), which emphasizes the shared responsibility of employers and employees for workplace health and safety.

The OHS division also works to enhance understanding of OHS requirements through our Pathways to Compliance (PDF), which includes promoting compliance, setting requirements, verifying compliance, and enforcing requirements.

Technical Safety

The Technical Safety (TS) division of the Safety Branch promotes, verifies, and enforces safety requirements for regulated equipment in workplaces and public spaces. This commitment is essential for protecting public safety, preventing incidents, and ensuring compliance with the latest safety regulations and best practices.

By maintaining rigorous safety standards, the TS division helps create a safer environment for residents and workplaces, while supporting the overall well-being and economic stability of our communities.
